PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

This role directly reports to Manager, Fleet Services, however supports two departments - Fleet and Safety organizations. In this capacity, the Sr. Communications Specialist will collaborate across multiple organizations (Fleet, Safety, BGE Communications, etc.) to ensure the successful execution of defined communication plans. This individual will be responsible for the following types of communications: department-level announcements, Fleet/Safety Bulletins and Newsletters, department/division presentations, and special communications/informational projects. As workload and deliverable due dates dictate, the Sr. Communications Specialist may oversee work produced by vendors and contractors. 



PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure effective communication of company goals and initiatives to internal stakeholders
- Support and participate in the development and implementation of internal communications programs and initiatives.
- Manage a variety of internal communications tasks to support leadership, including preparation of a range of communications, talking points, presentations, and other materials.
- Develop strong working relationship with other business units to implement community outreach programs.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum:
-4-year relevant degree and a minimum of 5 to 8 years experience in communications (employee communications or advertising).
- Proven, excellent communications skills both written and interpersonal.
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills
- Proven ability to be innovative and creative
- Ability to work autonomously and interface easily with senior business leaders and the local press.
Preferred:
- Masters degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
- Energy business/industry knowledge

Qualifications

- Directly supports the Manager, Fleet Services & Safety Dept 
- Position activities are focused on internal communications to employees and other stakeholders, which support initiatives and projects developed by Fleet and Safety and other business unit organizations for broader application.
- Requires significant outreach to internal audiences and development of strong relationships
- Involves proactive communication planning and plan execution, project leadership and a high level of coordination with other communication functions within Corporate.
- Requires ability to develop communications strategies
- Requires ability to travel
- Works under minimal supervision.
