PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION


This position performs all levels of calibrations, tests, analysis and preparatory tasks as assigned to a given discipline(s). Develops new methodologies and procedures and provides direction to other technicians. This position requires access to Exelon Nuclear Generation facilities including security requirements associated with such access. This position requires a self directed individual ready to accept a leadership role. Leadership will address a business need that includes a technical expertise and a business process expertise.

 


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform complex calibrations, tests and analysis assigned to the technician working team. Conducts independent field investigations. Plans/executes on-site. Performs lead role in specific laboratory disciplines. Interacts with vendors/clients on technical problems.
  • Responsible for determining test methods to be used for new equipment when assigned or calibration formats and procedures. May develop equipment and material specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of calibration, testing and analytical work performed including required traceabilities on equipment utilized. Computes, analyzes and records test data.
  • Develop and coordinates software programs to enhance and support discipline functions including automated calibration, data acquisition and electronic calibration records.
  • Perform statistical measurements and uncertainty analysis 10 6 Assist technicians, when necessary, in improving their work habits (neatness, safety, etc.) Assure adherence to safe work practices and Q.A. program requirements including disposition of NCRs. Provide on the job training for technicians.
  • Perform self assessments and other team tasks when assigned


POSITION SCOPE

 
Technician work activities will encompass one or more of the following activities: calibration of scientific instrumentation or measurement and test equipment, including the development of calibration protocols; conduct electrical, mechanical or metallurgical testing protocols, including the development of such protocols. Support Business Plan though technical and process leadership. Make recommendations or improvements on procurement of components, systems, spare parts, portable test equipment requirements, training, etc. Perform technical research. Provide assistance in the anticipation and selection of future asset needs, the integration of new methodologies, and assimilates new subject matter to develop and maintain discipline expertise.


Additional Assessment Criteria

  • Have clear subject matter expertise in at least one discipline
  • Have proven success in demonstrated leadership, teamwork, customer service focus, mentoring and decision making skills under pressure
  • Quality Performance PS (Initiated, Worked or disposition’ed 3 (P)NCR’s, > Quality acceptance rate, and reviewed at a minimum of 30 vendor certifications.
  • Safety PS (Self Initiated at least one safety improvement, presented 2 safety presentations and maintained zero safety concerns for 3 years) 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associates degree, or sixty (60) credits toward a BS degree in a technical field, or PMEL training (no experience required), or a high school degree plus a minimum of eight years of relevant experience
  • The position requires certification to ANSI N45.2.6 Level 3 requirements
  • Demonstrated aptitude in: chemical, electrical, mechanical or metallurgical testing, analysis or calibrations or basic engineering principles
  • Ability to gain access to Exelon Nuclear Stations
  • Meet additional assessment criteria
  • Good oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nuclear plant experience, Radiation protection experience
  • Preferred ten years of relevant experience
  • Metrology of related education via VoTech, military or associate degree in technical area
