PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

 

Exelon’s content lab develops strategic, innovative, engaging communications supporting our companywide brand strategy. The manager of the content lab creative oversees Exelon’s data-driven strategy for visual storytelling development and execution, overseeing all graphic design, videography, writing and photography, ensuring a consistent visual aesthetic across the operation. The position leads the continual improvement of Exelon’s creative work, harnessing the dynamic talents and technical skill of a team of digital designers, videographers, and photographers. The position supports the team’s partnership with Exelon’s seven operating companies on governance, best practices, and aligning content creation strategy. The position oversees content creation budget, vendors, and related development funding, and oversees staff responsible for all aspects of Exelon’s design template system for internal clients, including client support and front-end platform development, as well as Exelon’s digital asset management system. Work of the creative team and the manager includes supporting the integrated marketing communications programs and reputation management program. The position supervises a team comprising digital graphic designers, photographers, and videographer/producers. The team works closely with Exelon’s social media team, brand and marketing team, media relations and internal communications teams to execute a companywide integrated communications strategy.
 
 PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
1. Lead visual storytelling development and execution, overseeing all graphic design, videography, and photography, ensuring a consistent visual aesthetic across the operation. Lead the continual improvement of Exelon’s creative work, harnessing the dynamic talents and technical skill of a team of digital designers, videographers, and photographers. 
2. Support the team’s partnership with Exelon’s seven operating companies on governance, best practices, and aligning content creation strategy  
3. Support Exelon’s data-driven integrated marketing communications programs and reputation management program.  
4. Supervise diverse, talented team comprising digital graphic designers, photographers, and videographer/producers.  
5. Develop and oversee execution of visual communications work related to projects for Exelon and BSC initiatives, and provide counsel on operating company projects, including advertising, digital content, special events, and other vehicles.  
6. Oversee content creation budget, vendors, and related development funding 
7. Lead staff responsible for all aspects of Exelon’s design template system for internal clients, including client support and front-end platform development, as well as Exelon’s digital asset management system  
8. Collaborate with Exelon’s social media, brand and marketing, media relations, and internal communications teams to execute a companywide integrated communications strategy.   
 
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS


Minimum:  


• Four-year degree in Communications, Digital Communications, Journalism or related field.
• Minimum 10 years general communications, with at least 6 years in digital/social media communications.
• Excellent verbal communication, writing, editing and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal communication and management skills
• A high level of self-motivation and independence will be critical, as will strategic thinking and organizational sensitivity
• Excellent follow through capability; demands high level of performance from self and others
• Demonstrated experience working with brands on a national level or in major market.
• Exceptional creativity, innovation and strategic thinking.
• Experience with managing social media, video, and other digital platforms.
• Experience managing vendors and budgets.
• Demonstrated managerial experience.
• Knowledge of layout/design principles.
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff, including senior executives.

 

Preferred: 


• Master’s degree in Digital or Integrated Marketing Communications or MBA

Qualifications

POSITION SCOPE


- Reports to Senior Manager, Content and Creative, with accountability for client satisfaction among internal clients
- Supervises diverse team of social media specialists and reporters
- Requires strategic planning and execution of digital, branding and integrated marketing communications campaigns, as well as management of budgets and forecasts.
- High level of strategic thinking, digital and branding experience, creativity and writing skill required
- Some travel required.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
