PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Manages the personnel and activities of Reliability Programs, Reporting/Analysis, and the Distribution Automation Group, including the reporting, analysis, recommendations, budgeted, and tracking for system performance programs, and the development of strategies to improve overall performance and maintaining a strong regulatory relationship. Assist in the development and effective implementation of strategic initiatives. Assure the focus and attainment of company reliability goals and objectives. Includes the analysis, and implementation of distribution automation programs and communications improvements. Develop and maintain an environment that promotes diversity and high productivity. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manages the development and implementation of short and long term strategic initiatives designed to assure the highest levels of customer services and to achieve Exelon's safety, reliability and performance goals. 
  • Functionally focused balancing a mix of day-to-day operations and policy with strategic planning. Provides direction on core philosophies to the Company. Makes decisions on key business activities, which have a direct impact on the department or operations, indirect impact on other departments and/or the Company. 
  • Manage the overall budget of reliability initiatives. Establish and monitor corporate business plans and business unit objectives.
  • Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high performance culture and a learning organization. Leads management team in promoting diversity. Serves as a change agent for business initiatives and assures the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions. 
  • Establish, maintain and improve relationship with state regulators and other governmental officials. 
  • Provide leadership to and development of the management team. Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct performance planning and appraisals. Identify opportunities for growth and learning. 
  • Establish, maintain and improve relationships with other departments in and outside of Exelon.
  • Facilitates open and honest communication with staff. Assures that upward communication is integrated into the process, including employee concerns and complaints. Develop methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives. 


JOB SCOPE

  • Manage and direct approximately 20 employees. Manage departmental budgets.
  • Provide high level strategic direction to department staff to ensure that corporate values and culture support the company's short and long-term business goals.
  • Facilitate the development of system programs focusing on system reliability improvement and distribution automation, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction for Exelon's customers. Determine methods for program establishment, as well as performance measures to assess their value for the purpose of aiding the operating regions to attain their own and corporate objectives as well as meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for the reporting, analysis of performance and development of performance improvement programs for the distribution overhead and underground system and associated distribution equipment (annual spend of approximately $50 million).
  • Manage the reporting toolbox for company personnel. Perform reviews and appraisals of the results of the productivity-based activities in the regions on a consistent basis. Determine and communicate viable options for remedial actions as necessary.
  • Responsibility for the provision of timely and consistent data for Exelon corporate officers/shareholders and media.
  • Coordinate Electric Operations' activities with state regulators and other government officials to ensure commitments are met. Facilitate regulatory reviews of Exelon Corporation T&D system as required.
  • Interpret company and governmental/regulatory policies and agreements in regards to system operations.
  • Manage Regulatory Audits.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • At least 10 years of industry experience, including 3-5 years as a supervisor or manager.
  • Broad knowledge of company, department policies, objectives, strategies, and goals; function being managed; applicable governmental laws and regulations.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively, drive execution and ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of regulatory issues.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, customer awareness and ability to create value.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate degree or Graduate Level work in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
