PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The T&S Pepco Laboratory Technician B is responsible for routine assignments associated with oil, soil, and water samples analysis. They will perform standardized chemical analytical tests, such as fluid quality analysis, dissolved gas and PCB and metal analysis to ensure compliance with Company and Industry specifications.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to: 1. Performs routine laboratory testing of oils, such as transformer and cable, water, soils, etc., following relevant company's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and methods. Determine color, neutralization, specific gravity, viscosity interfacial tension, etc. Accurately document experiments and results. 2. Prepares chemical solutions as required. May performs daily, weekly, and monthly Quality Assurance/Quality Control checks on equipment. 3. Assist Senior Technicians in performing complex tests, analyses, calibrations, or other technical projects. � Provide support to other technicians as needed. 4. Assist Senior Technicians in developing new methods and procedures and be able to learn and become proficient at several analytical techniques. 5. Ensure samples and sample results are logged into the laboratory database system in a timely and accurate manner. 6. Archives, returns, or disposes of client samples as per established procedure. 7. Ensures all personal protective equipment (PPE) relevant for tasks is worn as required. 8. Respond to callouts/emergencies/on call list/storm duty on a 24x7 basis and perform shift work and overtime as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Job Requirements: 1. Possess working knowledge of chemicals, associated formulas, chemical analysis and procedures and company analytical instruments with a minimum of 3 years of relevant lab experience or relevant education experience. 2. Ability to read and interpret technical instructions involving chemical analysis. Ability to prepare accurate reports. 3. Self-starting motivated person who possesses good interpersonal skills and who can effectively interact with cross functional teams. 4. Must have good organizational and verbal communication skills. 5. Must be a team player with integrity and concern for the quality of company products, services, and staff members. 6. Must successfully pass a Criminal History Background Check. 7. Must successfully pass a drug test.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Demonstrate ability and experience, as a Laboratory Technician C. 2. Hands on experience working with analytical lab equipment is preferred. 3. Proficiency with the use of Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic computer skills required.
