PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
We are seeking an Electrician Substation to join the staff at our Atlantic City Electric Region District, New Jersey location.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience performing maintenance and repair of high and low voltage equipment (12kv though 500kv) using knowledge of electrical equipment and circuits (e.g., control circuits, control equipment, power circuit breakers, transformers).
- Experience installing and modifying control wiring associated with batteries, battery chargers, relay equipment, and supervisory or carrier current relay equipment.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting electrical equipment and circuit continuity using instruments and other testing equipment (e.g., meters, testers, meggers, ammeters).
- Experience splicing wires/cables and measuring, cutting, bending, pulling and installing electrical cable and conduit.
Experience determining that proper working clearances and required grounding have been established and tagged when necessary.
- Knowledge of the layout and characteristics of electrical transmission and distribution systems equipment and control apparatus as related to substations.
- Experience reading and understanding prints, schematics, one lines, maps, and drawing/diagrams.
- Experience performing capital construction activities related to substations (e.g., assembling, erecting, installing, inspecting, and maintaining structures, bus, conductors, switches, foundations, and associated equipment.)
- Experience applying and ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other relevant Federal, State, and Local regulatory bodies and safety procedures.
- Ability and willingness to drive and operate boom and winch equipment and aerial lift bucket trucks.
- Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including all weather conditions, on unstable work surfaces, in confined spaces, enclosed vessels, underground, in dark areas, or areas with limited lighting, mud, dust, noxious fumes, noisy, and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability and willingness to work on or around hazardous equipment/materials (e.g., open flames, heavy equipment, etc.) and/or energized electrical equipment.
- Ability and willingness to apply resuscitation on or off the ground and be able to render first aid.
- Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment (e.g., hard hat, steel toed shoes, glasses, side shield, hearing protection, flame retardant clothing, respirator, including respirator fit test) as required by Federal, State, Local and Company regulations and adhere to safety regulations and policies.
- Ability and willingness to perform physically challenging tasks for extended periods of time (e.g., climbing, shoveling, swinging picks, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, squatting and lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance and 50 pounds by self).
- Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, extended hours and overtime, with little or no notice.
- Ability and willingness to perform a second role in accordance with Pepco Holdings Emergency Preparedness Guidelines for all employees.
- Must provide proof of completion of Electrician's Apprenticeship and/or Electrician's certification.
- Must possess a Class A CDL and a DOT medical card or be willing to obtain each within 6 months of entry into the position.
- Must successfully pass Criminal Records History Check
- Must successfully pass a medical screening to include drug test.
- Must successfully pass a qualification test.
This position is a NERC Regulated position. As such, a background check will be conducted on the incumbent every seven years. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to complete annual NERC compliance training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience demonstrating skill driving backhoes, trenchers, plows, pickup trucks, and boom trucks.
