PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The T&S Regional Projects Engineering team’s mission is to provide technical leadership and contract management in support of substation system performance projects with a focus on optimized project execution and resource empowerment. The unit consists of engineering personnel providing Project Engineering in support of substation system performance work and business analysts supporting with contract administration for outsourced work. The successful Sr Business Analyst will perform responsibilities associated with contracting external resources, contractor onboarding, forecast/accruals reporting, and metrics tracking. Additionally, the Sr Business Analyst will provide coaching to other employees within the department and lead process documentation.
Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and conduct short-term and long-range business planning. Conduct complex modeling, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, business case development, and other financial and operational analysis (e.g., operational effectiveness, budget, resource, workload, workforce and capacity utilization, competitor, etc.).
- Provide statistical information to ensure the most effective utilization of personnel, equipment and/or materials for business operations.
- Monitor and coordinate activities to manage operational performance (e.g., safety, reliability, service level, productivity, etc.) and make recommendations for improvement.
- Track, maintain, analyze and provide current information on the operation's business scorecard or key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Perform analysis of the operation's cost elements to ensure effective and efficient operations.
- Prepare and analyze comprehensive and detailed reports.
- Develop, organize and present detailed performance reports for both internal and external use.
- May develop, implement, evaluate or lead projects or initiatives (e.g., business plan or process improvement initiatives).
- Provide broad analytical and operational support to the business unit.
JOB SCOPE
This is an individual contributor position that works independently with only general direction, relying on knowledge skills and judgment acquired through education and relevant experience to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals. The position regularly mentors other colleagues. The position requires routine interaction with cross functional teams, including Project management, Financial Operations, Contractor Alliance/Contract Management, engineering units.
Responsibilities include but is not limited to the following:
- Lead and Engage with both Central Project Management and regional Project Management for decision making and alignment regarding contracting approach for regional work bundles and system performance projects.
- Addresses issues related to aged invoices
- Provide contract administration support, which includes correctly routing Invoices for EOC, OE and LRE contracts for approval
- Create contract requisitions for outsourced design and engineering resources in support of system performance projects
- Support regional work plan efforts, including finalization of procedure with an emphasis on contract management
- Support with onboarding new contractors - Once onboarded in Beeline, Sr Business Analyst ensures all applications needed by the contractor are requested and approved and training needs identified
- Provide contract administration support

- Invoice management
- Coordination with Supply Chain and Contract Management organization
- Engage all vendors to ensure they provide accruals and forecast reporting in Redwave and provide manual accruals reporting every month to Financial Operations
- Serve as the contract administrator point of contact with Exelon suppliers and vendors
- Work with a team to define unit’s metrics and maintain annual metrics
- Support of documentation efforts for formalizing the Regional Work Plan process
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering AND 4-7 years of related business experience, or in lieu of degree, 6-9 years of relevant business experience is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices, business fundamentals, and performance metrics in the specific functional area supported by this position (e.g., asset management, electric or gas operations, customer service, transmission and substation, distribution system operations, regulatory and external affairs, transmission operations and planning).
- Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project), specialized business technologies and applications (e.g., workforce management, project management, PassPort, Brio, CIS, EPS, Business Objects, SAP planning, business modeling, forecasting, voice response unit, automatic call distributors, work management, outage management) to retrieve and analyze data in support of business needs.
- Ability to provide in-depth analysis and apply managerial accounting concepts, customer intelligence gathering, forecasting, staff planning, scheduling, analytical and statistical problem solving, financial, accounting, business and budget analysis.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills for project evaluation including analysis of complex projects with economic, financial, risk and decision analysis. Proficient in business case development and ability to effectively present business cases to business unit leadership.
- Customer driven with good oral and written communications skills and strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of performance analysis (trending, root cause and gap analysis) benchmarking and audit compliance. Ability to analyze organizational data and complex problems, interpret and recommend alternative courses of action, and implement intervention strategies to attain performance targets.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA or relevant advanced degree
- Cost analyst experience is preferred
- 3+ years or more of Contract management and/or project management experience
- Contract Management experience
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6, Redwave, Asset Suite 8
- Experience leading initiatives, including engaging technical teams
