PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Direct the personnel and activities of the Project Management Group, including development, definition and implementation of work processes and financial management tools, development and implementation of processes and tools to oversee and effectively manage projects, control costs, assure adherence to schedules, prioritize projects and resources and forecast budgets. Assure the development and effective implementation of strategic initiatives. Assure the focus and attainment of business goals and objectives. Develop and maintain an environment that promotes diversity and high productivity. Champion the use of the corrective action process and utilize continuous learning. Reinforce safe work behaviors and culture. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

The Sr. Manager Project Management role will oversee the Contract Management, the Project Management Office (PMO) and the newly formed Capital Planning & Delivery team (permanent Nerve Center).  This position will oversee these three specific PHI-wide teams responsible for overall company and capital success with oversight of both internal FTE’s and external contractors in addition to the growth and strategic path of the team members and organization as a whole.

  • Contract Management – Leadership of the team that provides governance and oversight of the contractor community performing work for PHI.  Manage the contractual and personal relationships with our key contractors to ensure contract compliance and maximation of value, performance and safety.
  • Project Management Office (PMO) – Support projects through system maintenance and administration, updating and sharing KPIs with organization, and creating and running training programs for /project teams
  • Capital Planning & Delivery – Support projects by identifying and tracking high-profile, high-spend projects through a regular cadence of check-ins, and by serving as dedicated liaisons in three main areas (materials, outages & permitting).  Provide projects with technical and analytical support and guidance, with a focus on three main areas (long range plan, continuous improvement & project initiation team)
  • Lead the organizational focus on, and attainment of, business goals and objectives in support of key internal and external client business needs.
  • Develop and maintain an environment that promotes diversity, inclusion, integrity and high productivity.  Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


JOB SCOPE

  • Implement and manage a construction program with annual expenditures in excess of $100 million to meet Company commitments to state and local governments, FERC and external customers.
  • Manager performance of multiple project teams through assigned project managers with direct supervision of 8 - 10 employees and indirect management of 400 contract personnel and 300 employees.
  • Manage the connection of large industrial customers to the transmission and distribution systems, work with the independent power producers to interconnect to transmission system, and manage internal capacity expansion and system performance projects.
  • Interact with all levels of Exelon leadership; manage relationship with key management of client groups; interact with front line employees and contract personnel at all levels.
  • Impact of decisions or errors: Decisions can have impact on organizational strategy, financial performance and reliability. Errors could have significant negative impact on financial results, safety, reliability, customer and employee satisfaction.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or related field
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 3-5 years as a supervisor or manager.
  • In lieu of bachelor's degree, associate's degree AND 12-15 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of project management tools, techniques, and contracting. Demonstrated financial management knowledge in Budgeting and Forecasting.
  • Proven leadership ability in a high performance culture.
  • Proven high-level management skills in coaching and facilitating business competency.
  • Proven performance management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively, negotiate, and foster culture change.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, customer awareness and ability to create value.
  • Ability to review and understand contract structure and impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field
  • PMP Certification
  • 5 years supervisory experience and 5 years managing projects or programs or relevant business experience
  • Electric industry background in the construction, maintenance and troubleshooting of transmission & substation equipment/systems or distribution control systems.
  • Contracting strategy knowledge beyond T&E, Unit Price, and Lump Sum. Knowledge of contractor Wage Rate analysis.
  • Understanding of Long Range Planning (LRP) development, including budget and scoping. Ability to create and implement cost control and efficiency strategies
