PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

ComEd Provides leadership, direction and professional development to a team of engineers and technical support personnel in the planning and execution of a variety of engineering activities including the upkeep of distribution Construction Standards and Engineering Practices that are associated with the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of ComEd's distribution system. Works closely with other departments including Construction, Engineering, Methods, Supply, and Safety to develop or revise Construction Standards. Functionally focused balancing a mix of day-to-day operations and strategic planning. Makes decisions on key business activities, which have a direct impact on the ComEd operations, indirect impact on other departments and/or the Company. Develops and maintains an environment that promotes diversity and high productivity. Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, cost estimates, budgets, associated with the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of Exelon's distribution system. Provides analytical support for consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, or facilities. Assists in the development of strategies to improve reliability. Assists in the implementation of strategic initiatives. Assures the focus and attainment of company business goals and objectives. PECO & BGE Manages the personnel and activities of the Distribution Standards and Preventative Maintenance Programs department, including the reporting and analysis of system performance, the development of strategies to improve overall performance and maintaining a strong regulatory relationship. Manages the implementation and review of the Preventative Maintenance Programs for the Distribution System to ensure that the programs are designed to ensure the reliability of the system. Assist in the development and effective implementation of strategic initiatives. Assure the focus and attainment of company business goals and objectives. Develop and maintain an environment that promotes diversity and inclusion, and high productivity. Drives for innovation and the introduction of new equipment need to take the Distribution to the next level in performance and technology. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

  • ComEd:

  • Development and upkeep of distribution and Engineering Practices. (15%)
  • Participate on national standards making bodies and research activities Assist in the development and implementation of short and long term strategic initiatives designed to assure the highest levels of customer services and to achieve ComEd's reliability performance goals. (10%)
  • Develops and maintains an environment that fosters a high performance culture and a learning organization. (5%)
  • Assures timely recognition of employee contributions (5%)
  • Facilitates open and honest communication with staff. (5%)
  • Conducts performance planning and appraisals. Provides accurate and timely feedback regarding performance. (5%)

  • Acts as a delegate for the Manager of Distribution Standards and Technical Support. (5%)
  • PECO:
  • Manages the development and implementation of short and long term strategic initiatives designed to assure the highest levels of customer services and to achieve Exelon's safety, reliability and performance goals. (25%)
  • Functionally focused balancing a mix of day-to-day operations and policy with strategic planning. Provides direction on core philosophies to the Company. Makes decisions on key business activities, which have a direct impact on the department or ComEd / PECO operations, indirect impact on other departments and/or the Company. (15%)
  • Manage the overall budget of reliability initiatives. Establish and monitor corporate business plans and business unit objectives. (10%)
  • Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high performance culture and a learning organization. Leads management team in promoting diversity and inclusion. Serves as a change agent for business initiatives and assures the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions. (10%)
  • Establish, maintain and improve relationship with state regulators and other governmental officials. (10%)
  • Provide leadership to and development of the management team. Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct performance planning and appraisals. Identify opportunities for growth and learning. (10%)
  • Establish, maintain and improve relationships with other departments in and outside of Exelon. (10%)
  • Facilitates open and honest communication with staff. Assures that upward communication is integrated into the process, including employee concerns and complaints. Develop methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • BGE:
  • Makes decisions on key business activities, which have a direct impact operation, indirect impact on other departments and/or the Company. (15%)
  • Development and upkeep of distribution Construction Standards. (20%)
  • Manage the implementation of Preventive Maintenance Programs (15%)
  • Participate on national standards making bodies and research activities. Assist in the development and implementation of short and long term strategic initiatives designed to assure the highest levels of customer services and to achieve reliability performance goals. (10%)

JOB SCOPE
  • ComEd Responsible for the upkeep of distribution Construction Standards and Engineering Practices that are associated with the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of ComEd's distribution system. Responsible for providing technical support for distribution construction standards and regulatory codes, to internal customers ranging from front line overhead electrician to vice president. Influence distribution system industry standards through department support and participation on national standards making bodies and research activities. Manage and direct approximately 9 employees. Manage departmental budget.
  • PECO Provide high level � strategic direction to department staff to ensure that corporate values and culture support the company's short and long-term business goals. Facilitate the development of system programs focusing on system improvement, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction and Reliability for Exelon's customers. Determine methods for program establishment, as well as performance measures to assess their value for the purpose of aiding the operating regions to attain their own and corporate objectives as well as meeting regulatory requirements. Responsible for the reporting, analysis of performance and development of performance improvement programs for the distribution overhead and underground system and associated distribution equipment (annual spend of $70 million).
  • BGE Responsible for the upkeep of distribution Construction Standards and Engineering Practices that is associated with the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the distribution system. Responsible for providing technical support for distribution construction standards and regulatory codes, to internal customers. Influence distribution system industry standards through department support and participation on national standards making bodies and research activities. Responsible for implementation of Preventive Maintenance Programs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 7-10 years of industry experience.
  • Broad knowledge of company, department policies, objectives, strategies, and goals; function being managed; applicable governmental laws and regulations.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively, drive execution and ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of regulatory issues.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, customer awareness and ability to create value.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate degree or Graduate Level work in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
  • Project Management Professional
  • Professional Engineer License
  • 3-5 years as a supervisor or manager
  • Transmission & Distribution Engineering and Operations experience
  • Radio Communications Engineering, Design and Operation experience
  • Meter Reading and AMI System Design and Operation experience
