PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Training Specialist works under general supervision of the Training Supervisor or designated Senior Training Specialist. They will design, develop, and maintain training programs within Customer Operations to support and satisfy business objectives. The Training Specialist is also responsible to promptly respond to system emergencies both during and after hours when required. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Design, develop and maintain training solutions in a variety of delivery formats, including instructor led training, eLearning, and blended solutions. Develop and maintain instructional and performance support content, including (but not limited to) courses, job aids, assessments, infographics, videos, participant guides, instructor manuals, online help content, and micro-learning content. (60%)
• Establish proficiency in tools required to perform design and development of training and performance support content, including but not limited to: (15%)
  • Articulate 360 to develop micro-learning modules, Computer Based Training eLearning, and online assessments.
  • RoboHelp to build and maintain online performance support content and manage the organization of content. 
  • uPerform to manage the organization and maintenance of training content in the uPerform portal.
  • Vyond for design and development of instructional animated videos.
  • Canva to design and develop infographics.
• Participate in the analysis of performance results and identify content maintenance required to address performance gaps. (10%)
• Work with Subject Matter Experts to review content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and instructional soundness. (10%)
• Perform administrative functions of the Learning Management System, including course creation, attendance tracking and reporting. (5%)

JOB SCOPE

The Training Specialist will design and develop content to support Instructor Led Training, Online Training, and blended solutions. They will design and develop content that meets established learning objectives, and they will participate in the evaluation of results. They are also responsible for on-the-job performance support content (e.g., online help), as well as ensuring that all content is updated and consistent with current policy. 

Qualifications

This is a hybrid remote position not a fully remote position, the successful candidate will be required to report to the office one day a month (minimum), one day a week (maximum)!

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• BS/BA Degree in Business, Education or Instructional Design, Communications, Organizational Development, Engineering or related field with 3 - 5 years relevant experience. Or in lieu of degree 6 - 9 years relevant business experience.
• Demonstrated written, verbal communications and presentation skills required
• Strong observation, evaluation, coaching and feedback skills
• Computer skills in Windows and business applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Certification in structured writing, technical writing, eLearning design, Instructional Systems Design, or related area
• Experience demonstrating skill applying the components of the ISD model
• Experience demonstrating skill designing and developing training solutions to include using knowledge of adult learning theories, interactive training and learning design principles, using a variety of delivery mechanisms to include instructor led training, eLearning, and blended solutions
• Experience demonstrating skill using other applications to design and develop eLearning
• Experience demonstrating skill developing online assessments
• Experience demonstrating skill using tools to develop or maintain online help systems
• Experience demonstrating skill using spreadsheet (Excel), database (Access) and/or flowcharting (Visio) software to preform work functions
