PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

This is for a IT Manager in the Desktop Operations, Remote Access, and Mainframe areas that are critical to operational excellence and for all Exelon companies (BSC, ComEd, PECO, PHI and BGE) and Constellation companies (Commercial, Generation, Nuclear) through TSA.  Plan and manage resources, finances, scope and services within a functional area of Information Technology to deliver business results. Provide IT products, services and solutions on time, within budget and with the required functionality. Establish, maintain and enhance relationships with clients. Participate in developing and implementing strategy/policy. Manage large-scale projects of high complexity, size and change management risk.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead and manage IT staff and resources in accordance with IT Business Plan. For projects: Plan and manage scope, schedule, and budget for defined deliverables in accordance with IT project management standards. For operations/application maintenance: Plan and manage to defined service level agreements at agreed upon budgets. (25%)
  • Lead and manage IT projects and associated system integrators to deliver projects of medium to high complexity. (10%)
  • Operate utilizing standard processes as defined within the Management Model. Oversee process improvement efforts and ensure adoption of standard processes and procedures that deliver sustainable top quartile cost and performance levels. (15%)
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with business and IT partners. Communicate status to key stakeholders on a regular basis. (15%)
  • Maintain current business knowledge/acumen, including application of technology solutions to deliver business results. (10%)
  • Evaluate performance and provide coaching for IT personnel. Participate in career development and succession planning processes. Promote diversity and foster teamwork, collaboration, and a learning organization. Provide input on development and retention processes for IT employees. (10%)
  • Prepare and manage budget for area of responsibility. (5%)
  • This role is critical to daily operations and supporting critical Remote Access, Desktop and Mainframe infrastructure for all Exelon companies – as well as NERC/CIP SCADA systems and their needs for On-Shore Remote Access support.
  • Maintaining and improving availability and performance levels of the Mainframe, Desktop and Remote access environments.
  • The E04 would be responsible for all Remote Access Operational functions including performance tuning, monitoring, access management, oversight of monthly security patching and baseline adherence, server and software upgrades, and remediation.
  • Many business applications are supported on the Remote Access platforms and their architecture to be properly managed, including:
    • Over 9000 vdis, 2500 applications on prem and azure 
  • In Desktop Operations, the IT manager will support on average 5,000+ work related incidents & requests annually, Netscaler and VPN connectivity and services, Application and Infrastructure availability for 3,000 Exelon applications, deploying approximately 36,000,000 patches annually, monthly patching and zero-day compliance for 50,000 PC’s/laptops, 6,000 Virtual Desktops, 900+ Servers supporting 25,000 concurrent remote users across Exelon and globally. 
  • Interfaces with the Exelon business units for all outage and operational issues and supports critical key projects within every business unit. Service management includes report monthly SLAs for all outage, patch compliance & service delivery information for IT.
  • The IT Manager  interfaces with different business units -- as well as the Tier 1 SPP Partner and Service Delivery Team in the US, Brazil and India -- for all outage and operational issues. 
  • Financial Management, being able to stay within budget

  • Determine and helps others learn appropriate theories, practices and principles that relate to their skill set portfolio and related sciences and disciplines.
  • Make judicious decisions in familiar and new situations and contributes to strategic decisions.
  • Represent business client's perspective with IT team
  • Dimensions: Span of control (generally 10), level of budget control, technical/business complexity, risk, criticality of assignment to business
  • Budget Management specific to area of accountability.
  • Operate independently with little or no supervision.
  • This role has significant impact to our ability to perform internal development of processes, address future automation initiatives, as well as support satisfactory KPIs and SLAs related to work and incident ticket response and resolution.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 8 to 10 years experience in (add area(s) of technical specialty) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Appropriate technical skills (MS Suite Applications, understanding of desktop remote access management tools).
  • Strong knowledge of business practices and processes in (financial management, operational metrics).
  • Experience leading and managing IT projects or subteams and knowledge of IT project management.
  • Experience leading and managing technical personnel.
  • Strong judgment and excellent analytical ability.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT and business management and with vendors.
  • Experience managing budgets for functional area of responsibility.
