PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The DER Interconnection Manager directs the day-to-day activities for Delmarva Power (DPL) & Atlantic City Electric (ACE) Interconnection Specialists, Business Analysts, Program Managers to process residential and small commercial DER interconnection applications The DER Interconnection Manager interfaces regularly with customers and developers seeking to interconnect distributed energy resources (DER) to the Pepco grid to resolve issues and provide process guidance. The DER Interconnection Manager partners with external customers and developers, as well as internal stakeholder organizations to identify and implement solutions for key business, operational, technological, and strategic issues related to DER interconnection, and ensure a premier customer experience for DER interconnection applicants. The DER Interconnection Manager develops and executes strategies to assure alignment of DER interconnection processes and initiatives with Company objectives, as well as key regulatory and legislative mandates and strategies. The DER Interconnection Manager collaborates with peers across the Exelon Utilities to identify and implement strategic solutions impacting DER interconnection. The DER Interconnection Manager is responsible for managing the development, tracking and reporting of performance metrics to drive process transparency, rigor, and accountability. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Direct the day-to-day activities and manage the performance of Pepco's Interconnection Specialists and Senior Interconnection Specialists to process residential and small interconnection applications. (20%)
  • Partner with external and internal stakeholders to resolve issues, as well as to identify and implement process and technological solutions to improve the timeliness, rigor, and transparency of the DER interconnection process and create a premier customer experience. (20%)
  • Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high-performance culture and a learning organization. Leads management team in promoting diversity. Serves as a change agent for business initiatives and assures the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions and develop technical capabilities in the organization. (15%)
  • Manage the development, tracking and reporting of performance metrics to drive process transparency, rigor, and accountability. (15%)
  • Positions Pepco as a thought leader in the industry by participation in standard organizations, working groups, and task forces on DER-related topics. (10%)
  • Lead strategic cross-OpCo initiatives that create value for the Company and drive improvement in key performance indicators. (10%)
  • Facilitates open and honest communication with staff. Assures that upward communication is integrated into the process, including employee concerns and complaints. Develop methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives. (10%)


JOB SCOPE

  • Lead a team with the strategic focus to create value for the company and a premier customer interconnection experience. The team is composed of a small number of skilled employees with the ability to both understand regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
  • Develop, manage and continuously evaluate DER interconnection strategy, optimizing technological capabilities, process efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Regular contact with senior management, managers, regulators and government officials as necessary to support DER interconnection strategy development.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business
  • At least 8 years of Energy Delivery experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of distribution design and engineering practices.
  • Proven leadership ability in a high-performance culture. Proven high level management skills in coaching and facilitating business competency.
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change and ensure compliance to processes and design procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate degree or Graduate Level work in Engineering, Strategy, Business Administration or related field.
  • Industry leadership experience
  • Knowledge of PHI DER interconnection processes and applicable regulatory/legislative mandates.
  • Demonstrated leadership across EU OpCos and with other Exelon business units
  • Demonstrated ability to build commitment among team members or peers to a premier customer experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements across Exelon business units.
