PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Manages the personnel and activities of Distribution Automation including the analysis of system performance, automation and communication equipment. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve overall performance of Automation Systems. Assure the focus and attainment of company business goals and objectives. Develop and maintain an environment that promotes diversity and high productivity.
Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manages the overall operation of the Distribution System Automation equipment to ensure the highest state of readiness is achieved to support the operating and reliability departments.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives designed to improve Distribution System performance by improving system reliability (SAIFI, CAIDI).
- Manage the implementation of key reliability initiatives requiring automation.
- Establish, maintain and improve relationships with the various departments that directly utilize or support automation equipment to ensure the appropriate focus is maintained.
- Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high-performance culture and a learning organization. Leads management team in promoting diversity. Serves as a change agent for business initiatives and assures the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions.
- Provide leadership to and development of the management team. Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct performance planning and appraisals. Identify opportunities for growth and learning.
- Facilitates open and honest communication with staff. Assures that upward communication is integrated into the process, including employee concerns and complaints.
JOB SCOPE
- Manage and direct approximately 10 employees. Manage departmental budget, Projects, Programs and initiatives.
- Provide high level strategic direction to department staff to ensure that corporate values and culture support the company's short and long-term business goals.
- Facilitate the development of system improvements that improve automation equipment performance thereby enhancing customer satisfaction for Exelon's customers by reducing SAIFI and CAIDI.
- Manage key system performance metrics to assess their value for the purpose of ensuring automation equipment is maintained at the highest state of readiness to support Distribution Operation ability to operate the system.
- Responsible for the analysis of system and equipment performance and the development of corrective actions or initiatives to improvement identified problems.
- Manage the logistics for internal and external projects to ensure all requirements for satisfactory equipment operation are established and maintained.
- Responsibility for the provision of timely and consistent data and reports for Exelon corporate officers/shareholders.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of industry experience including a minimum of 3 years' experience as supervisor, manager or proven team leadership.
- Broad knowledge of company, department policies, objectives, strategies, and goals; function being managed; applicable governmental laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Distribution Automation Equipment and Communication systems.
- Good oral and written communication skills, ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively, drive execution and ability to multi-task.
- Demonstrated business acumen, customer awareness and ability to create value.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSGraduate degree or Graduate Level work in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
