PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
As a Principal Product Designer, you will help shape the future of Exelon with influence across multiple teams to demonstrate the value of design across a wide range of digital solutions. We’re looking for a highly experienced UX/UI Designer to evangelize user-centered design (UCD) principles to set the standard to produce high-quality designs across multiple digital touch points for our customers. We are looking for designers who are passionate about the design process and coaching others, developing innovative design solutions, and who have strong conceptual foundations. If you have shown proven success in stakeholder management and can channel your design eminence to address complex business and user needs with quality, empathy, and dignity, you could be the right fit for this position.
Provide design expertise to EU IT and Business teams to identify design solutions and strategies to achieve business results. Develop and ensure appropriate application and usage of design approaches within both the UX discovery and production (prototyping) process.
Design and develop enterprise-wide design strategy in alignment with business goals to shape Design and Product roadmaps.
Evangelize design thinking and agile practices across the Business to senior and executive leadership.
Lead, coach, and engage design talent to ensure goals are met, the team is delivering to the highest quality, and the work is being done effectively.
Maintain awareness of trends and issues in area of product design, evaluate new technologies, software, and opportunities, and provide analysis of their potential impact to advantage the business.
Foster a highly collaborative culture that values innovation and supporting each other.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide technical expertise to IT and business teams to identify technology solutions and strategies to achieve business results. Ensure appropriate implementation of technology within both the development and production environments. (35%)
For architecture: Design and develop enterprise-wide architecture and strategy for assigned architectural domain in alignment with the business strategy. For engineering: Perform engineering and design functions for software applications and infrastructure in support of the corporate-wide strategic information technology plan; oversee the introduction of new technology into the operations environment by utilizing Exelon's standard governance process. (30%)
Provide technological expertise and advice to IT leadership in the development of strategic information technology plans to support business strategies. (10%)
Establish, maintain and enhance relationships with business and IT partners. Communicate status to key stakeholders on a regular basis. (10%)
Maintain awareness of trends and issues in area of technical expertise, evaluate new technologies or technology opportunities, and provide analysis of their potential impact to advantage the business. (10%)
Provide input to IT managers on performance of IT personnel to assist in performance evaluations, career development, and recognition. (5%)
JOB SCOPE
Maintain deep knowledge of technology and its application across Exelon.
Promote knowledge via seminars, presentations and publications within IT and Exelon.
Determine appropriate theories, practices and principles that relate the technology to Exelon's business.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 8 to 10 years in solid, diverse experience in IT, with a focus in User Experience Design or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Appropriate technical skills:
Maintain expert knowledge of the product design and development industry, design trends, and best practices.
Maintain a deep understanding of business objectives to ensure alignment of design strategy across a portfolio of products and projects.
Practice solution design and strategy with cross functional teams and business stakeholders.
Shape and advance core team processes to increase operational efficiency and quality.
Coach and lead other designers assigned (Contractor and Fulltime) to their product or project team.
Roadmap design-activities and milestones to inform staffing forecasts and budgets.
Be an internal and external thought leader and innovator in order to educate and contribute to a healthy talent pipeline (e.g., present at events or conferences).
In-depth knowledge of business unit functions and applications:
Represent the voice of the customer and advocate for user needs, while considering business goals and technical constraints to enable project or product delivery to drive measurable outcomes.
Lead and innovate design processes, UX activities (e.g., wireframes, prototypes, personas, user research, journey maps etc.), and tools, along with design presentation skills, to take accessible and modern digital solutions from concept to market in collaboration with stakeholders and team members.
