PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

This role will be responsible for developing and supporting BGE’s transportation electrification initiatives including but not limited to our PSC approved EV programs and DOE projects. The Principal Analyst will develop strategies to engage medium and heavy-duty fleets and address GHG reduction. This role will also act as a subject matter expert concerning BGE’s Smart Energy Vision. These requirements require performing high-level analysis, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, business case development, and other general financial and operational analysis. 

Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist Manager Strategic Programs to lead and manage BGE’s EVsmart programs 
  • Lead and manage efforts to successfully implement a Fleet Electrification program 
  • Lead and manage BGE’s EVsmart charging stations 
  • Develop strategies to engage medium and heavy-duty fleets
  • Lead and manage additional programs including, but not limited to, programs focused on addressing GHG reduction strategies
  • Develop and drive short-term and long-range business planning.
  • Conduct complex modeling, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, business case development, and other financial and operational analysis (e.g., operational effectiveness, budget, resource, workload, workforce and capacity utilization, competitor, etc.).
  • Provide expert analytical and operational support to the business unit.

 

JOB SCOPE

  • This is an individual contributor position that works independently with little or no supervision. The position requires integration of business knowledge and functional priorities to address complex problems and non-standard situations. The position regularly mentors less experienced colleagues.
  • Position requires routine interaction with key internal and external stakeholders, executives, directors, managers and staff across the organization.
  • May require working extended hours and/or shift work to support business operations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA/BS in Business, Economics, Political Science, Public Policy or Engineering and 8 - 10 years related business experience.
  • Advanced understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices, business fundamentals, and performance metrics in the specific functional area supported by this position (e.g., asset management, electric or gas operations, customer service, transmission and substation, distribution system operations, regulatory , and governmental and external affairs, economic development transmission operations and planning).
  • Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project), specialized business technologies and applications (e.g., workforce management, project management, PassPort, Brio, CIS, EPS, Business Objects, SAP planning, business modeling, forecasting, voice response unit, automatic call distributors, work management, outage management) to retrieve and analyze data in support of business needs.
  • Ability to provide in-depth analysis and apply managerial accounting concepts, customer intelligence gathering, forecasting, staff planning, scheduling, analytical and statistical problem solving, financial, accounting, business and budget analysis.
  • Expert analytical skills for project evaluation including analysis of complex projects with economic, financial, risk and decision analysis. Proficient in business case development and ability to effectively present business cases to business unit leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of performance analysis (trending, root cause and gap analysis) benchmarking and audit compliance. Ability to analyze organizational data and complex problems, interpret and recommend alternative courses of action, and implement intervention strategies to attain performance targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team. Ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change. Demonstrated advanced skills in problem solving, negotiation, conflict management and business acumen.
  • Customer driven with good oral and written communications skills and basic analytical, problem solving and project management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MBA or relevant professional certification.
