PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Role is considered to be the Career Level. Conduct planning activities for ComEd’s energy efficiency portfolio, including near- and long-term strategy to achieve statutory goals and maximize company earnings. Support the Department in the implementation of the portfolio, including providing programmatic recommendations, developing necessary performance metrics, analyzing cost effectiveness, and tracking to ensure that portfolio is delivered according to ICC rules and regulations to ensure cost recovery and earnings. Work cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders, to achieve positive outcomes. Drive operational excellence by developing and meeting timelines and achieving results within assigned budget. May develop, implement, evaluate or lead projects or initiatives (e.g., business plan or process improvement initiatives). Provide broad analytical and operational support to the business unit. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support the Department in the implementation of the portfolio, including providing programmatic recommendations, developing necessary performance metrics, analyzing cost effectiveness, and tracking to ensure that portfolio is delivered according to ICC rules and regulations to ensure cost recovery and earnings.
  • Work cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders, to achieve positive outcomes.  Engage and negotiate with the Illinois Stakeholder Advisory Group and Illinois Technical Reference Manual Technical Advisory Committee.
  • Drive operational excellence by developing and meeting timelines and achieving results within assigned budget. Procure and manage services from vendors. This includes conducting requests for proposal, regular meetings to obtain progress reports and provide feedback and corrective actions as necessary, as well as ensuring that Accounts Payable (invoice review, verification and check creation) and Accounts Receivable functions (audit billing) are managed according to applicable Corp. Policies and Procedures and comply with appropriate accounting and Sarbanes Oxley rules.
  • May develop, implement, evaluate or lead projects or initiatives (e.g., business plan or process improvement initiatives).
  • Provide broad analytical and operational support to the business unit.


JOB SCOPE

  • This is an individual contributor position that works independently with only general direction, relying on knowledge skills and judgment acquired through education and relevant experience to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals. The position regularly mentors less experienced colleagues.
  • Position requires routine interaction with key internal and external stakeholders, executives, directors, managers and staff across the organization.
  • May require working extended hours and/or shift work to support business operations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering AND 5 - 8 years related business experience, or in lieu of Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 9 - 12 years relevant business experience is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices, business fundamentals, and performance metrics in the specific functional area supported by this position (e.g., asset management, electric or gas operations, customer service, transmission and substation, distribution system operations, regulatory and external affairs, transmission operations and planning).
  • Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project), specialized business technologies and applications (e.g., workforce management, project management, PassPort, Brio, CIS, EPS, Business Objects, SAP planning, business modeling, forecasting, voice response unit, automatic call distributors, work management, outage management) to retrieve and analyze data in support of business needs.
  • Ability to provide in-depth analysis and apply managerial accounting concepts, customer intelligence gathering, forecasting, staff planning, scheduling, analytical and statistical problem solving, financial, accounting, business and budget analysis.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills for project evaluation including analysis of complex projects with economic, financial, risk and decision analysis. Proficient in business case development and ability to effectively present business cases to business unit leadership.
  • Customer driven with good oral and written communications skills and strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of performance analysis (trending, root cause and gap analysis) benchmarking and audit compliance. Ability to analyze organizational data and complex problems, interpret and recommend alternative courses of action, and implement intervention strategies to attain performance targets.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or relevant advanced degree
  • A demonstrated ability to work within established budgets and deliver promised results
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory oversight, utility cost recovery mechanisms, as well as regulatory energy efficiency and conservation requirements (e.g., ICC approved energy efficiency portfolio, Section 8-103B of the Public Utilities Act, Climate and Equitable Jobs Act)
  • Familiarity with Illinois Technical Reference Manual and Illinois Energy Efficiency Policy Manual
  • Ability to communicate with and coordinate with a wide variety of professionals ranging from engineers to vendors, to subcontractors
